Job Description
At Sheraton Duluth Hotel, this Sales Manager role partners with hotel leadership to drive Sales and Marketing efforts and maximize revenue across banquet, catering, and rooms. You will help strengthen client relationships, uphold brand standards and customer service expectations, and use sales tools to forecast and share performance data across the sales cycle.
What you’ll do
- Assist the DOSM and Food & Beverage (F&B) Manager with setting annual catering and F&B revenue goals and support cost control.
- Coordinate with the F&B Manager to provide event support for F&B operations.
- Support an effective sales call process by implementing marketing strategies, analyzing trends, and tracking results to maximize hotel profit.
- Prospect and engage with new and existing contacts, building brand awareness and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Maintain sales projections and goals by business mix.
- Stay current on supply and demand, evolving trends, economic indicators, and competitive set activities.
- Maintain a high professional standard and help ensure monthly sales goals are met.
- Provide hands-on support for the sales team as leads are generated and opportunities move from initial inquiry to definite status.
- Develop and implement new sales initiatives, strategies, and programs aimed at key demographics.
- Build product and market knowledge for new and existing accounts, including the geographic market and competition.
- Network and prospect while ensuring client needs, questions, concerns, and accolades are handled in a courteous and timely manner per brand expectations.
- Sell, coordinate, and detail meeting space and food and beverage service.
- Develop and deliver account strategies tied to overall hotel performance and profitability.
- Manage revenue using market and industry data to secure appropriate business and maximize hotel profitability.
- Use sales tools and systems to identify, report, forecast, and communicate sales data, ensuring sales data integrity by documenting information in the brand’s software on a regular basis.
- Ensure effective communication from sales to the right operational departments.
- Conduct follow-up calls and correspondence to encourage repeat business and referrals.
What you’ll bring
- Minimum 2 years of experience in hotel sales, or an equivalent combination of education and sales experience.
- A proven track record of strong guest services scores, meeting brand standards, solid business references, and national brand experience (preferred).
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with community partners, vendors, external parties, and internal teams.
- Ability to learn and understand profit and loss statements and assist the GM and DOSM with creating and adhering to an annual budget.

- Schedule may vary based on hotel needs.
- Must successfully meet criminal background screening requirements for the position.
Schedule & work environment
- Monday-Friday, 8 am - 5 pm
- Professional office environment with frequent use of computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
- Ambient room temperatures and typical office lighting; quiet to moderate noise level.
- Must be able to sit or stand throughout the day based on business needs and move around the property as required.
- Occasionally lift up to 25-30 lbs and perform tasks requiring grasping, writing, repetitive motions, bending, and effective communication.

Compensation & benefits
- Pay range: $60,000 - 63,000 per year + bonus eligibility
