Technical Sales Manager - Aerospace & Defense
Job Description
Plansee USA LLC is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Manager to lead its Aerospace and Defense growth across the USA and Canada. In this Franklin, MA onsite role, you will align sales and marketing strategy with technical collaboration to expand business for Plansee’s High Performance Materials products and services.
You will also balance customer-facing commercial work with internal coordination across engineering, production, product management, and global teams, ensuring account plans, reporting, and market intelligence stay current. The position includes regular CRM updates, account reviews, and travel to support customer engagement and industry visibility.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive Sales and Marketing strategy for Plansee’s High Performance Materials offerings within the Aerospace and Defense business segments across the defined USA and Canada region.
- Manage customer commercial matters, including price, terms, evaluation, and delivery.
- Educate customers on Plansee materials, capabilities, technical expertise, and digitalization tools such as My Plansee and the Plansee Online Shop.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, production, and other technical personnel to develop customer-focused solutions.
- Coordinate with product management, inside sales, and outside sales representatives to address challenges and customer pain points.
- Maintain up-to-date account roadmap activities and supporting literature.
- Navigate complex Aerospace and Defense requirements and support innovative solutions that strengthen positioning as market needs evolve.
- Coordinate with colleagues across US sites for rapid dissemination of market information and improved Sales team alignment.
- Partner with global teams to address unique material requirements for cutting-edge Aerospace and Defense applications.
- Support the introduction and execution of strategic goals in collaboration with Business Division North America Managers to grow Aerospace and Defense business segments.
- Prepare customer conversation reports in CRM including customer visits, calls, and emails on a regular basis.
- Provide monthly and quarterly reviews covering sales performance, travel summaries, and analysis of account growth, profitability, potential, and forecast.
- Develop marketing intelligence by updating the CCM (Customer Competitor Matrix) regularly.
- Provide data for the annual planning procedure and support target setting for the annual budget.
- Expand the current customer base by engaging prospective customers to add new technical capabilities, diversify offerings, and promote Plansee Digital Tools.
- Participate in industry trade shows and conferences, attend sales meetings, and complete periodic planned visits to Global headquarters in Austria and other Plansee facilities as required.
Requirements
- BS degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, or a related field; an equivalent combination of directly related experience and education may be considered.
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of industrial sales and marketing experience in a business-to-business environment.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); knowledge of SAP R/3 sales module is desired.
- Proven leadership, organization, and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with effective interaction across levels and diverse cultures.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from management, customers, and prospects.
- Capability to resolve complex problems that support fulfillment of customer needs.
- Familiarity with market intelligence tools including CRM and CCM.
- Willingness to travel 50% of the time, domestically and internationally.
- Ability to meet requirements to work on ITAR and export control restricted projects.

Compensation: USD 90,000 - 120,000 per year
