Job Description

The Customer Sales Manager role at American International Transportation, Inc. places you at the helm of a growing Customer Sales team, driving new business, strengthening client relationships, and delivering revenue growth within a fast-paced freight brokerage. Based onsite in Kentwood, Michigan, this position centers on leading a team to pursue opportunities in transportation and logistics, with a particular emphasis on food and beverage accounts, while guiding strategic sales initiatives across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect, develop, and close new business opportunities in the transportation and logistics market, focusing on food and beverage customers.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Customer Sales Representatives, promoting accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement.
  • Engage via multiple channels—including phone, networking, and email—to establish and maintain dialogue with key decision makers.
  • Design and execute strategies to achieve defined sales goals and initiatives.
  • Manage and report on the sales pipeline, including forecasting revenue on a 30-60-90 day horizon.
  • Prepare RFQs and bids to compete for business within assigned accounts.
  • Set, monitor, and report on sales KPIs, quotas, and performance metrics for the customer sales team.
  • Model high outbound activity by prospecting, networking, emailing, and meeting with customers to drive results.
  • Generate revenue by actively prospecting, engaging, and cultivating long-term relationships with shippers, manufacturers, and key decision-makers while promoting AITI’s freight brokerage and logistics solutions.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the freight sales process and market-penetration strategies by building rapport with potential customers.
  • Travel as needed to meet with prospects and customers, and to train or lead Sales Representatives.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the business.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of proven experience in the transportation or logistics industry.
  • 2+ years in a strategic leadership or sales role directly supervising employees.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10-20% of the time.
  • Proven ability to analyze data and translate results into actionable insights and solutions.
  • Experience with an ERP/CRM system, Microsoft Office, or transportation software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer service mindset.
  • Strong sense of integrity and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • A sense of urgency in resolving customer questions and concerns.
  • A genuine passion for professional selling and people leadership.
  • Candidates with a proven track record of success and an established book of business are preferred.
