Job Description
Regional Sales Director for the Lower Midwest, onsite in Jefferson City, MO, leads end-to-end sales across Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas.
Responsibilities
- Provide a growth-focused leadership role to steer the company’s sales efforts in the assigned territory.
- Manage the complete sales cycle from initial prospecting through deal closure.
- Forge long-term partnerships with scale distributors, OEMs, and National Accounts across all product lines.
- Travel extensively within the territory to drive sales growth and margin across product groups.
- Promote cross-functional alignment and a global perspective across company departments.
- Uphold a customer-first culture within an ISO 9001 operational framework as the business expands.
- Focus on increasing sales within the region and among key accounts.
- Lead regional sales and marketing planning for scale distributors, OEMs, and National Accounts.
- Grow sales dollars year over year for assigned accounts.
- Assist in formulating territory-specific sales and marketing plans aligned with annual goals.
- Define the objective to expand the territory per company goals and objectives.
- Maintain and grow existing business with current accounts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with designated customers, understanding their needs.
- Identify buying patterns, organizational structure, and spending behaviors of customers.
- Generate new sales opportunities and acquire new customers.
- Contact and qualify leads, pursuing new accounts from initial outreach to onboarding.
- Ensure new accounts are properly configured in the sales system; conduct product demonstrations, prepare competitive quotes, negotiate, close large deals, and pursue ongoing follow-up.
- Submit orders and action items to the appropriate department via phone or fax for prompt processing, aiming for same-day response to standard inquiries.
- Maintain an active travel schedule to optimize growth and margin within the territory.
- Submit call reports for all customer interactions, including actionable issues as they arise.
- Typically visit customers Monday through Thursday, with Fridays reserved for administrative duties.
- Maintain current product knowledge on performance and specifications to support the selling process.
- Use product expertise to differentiate offerings and provide technical assistance to customers.
- Stay informed on weighing industry trends and gather market intelligence on competitors.
- Ensure customer training on products and services through on-site visits, service schools, and trade shows.
- Encourage VIP participation and arrange customer visits.
- Introduce new products and clearly communicate features and advantages.
- Report market intelligence and competitive analyses weekly, including travel and contact logs and expenses.
- Participate in regional industry groups (ISWM, NISA, ISRI and others) by attending functions in addition to weekly duties.
- Attend and contribute at trade shows as part of regional activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Sales, Marketing or Engineering, or 5+ years of relevant industry experience
- 5+ years of experience in the scale industry
- 2+ years of management or supervisory experience
- Valid driver's license
- Strong technical aptitude and the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively
- World-class customer service and interpersonal skills
- Proven sales ability and the capacity to share best practices
- Strong management, organization, and planning skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
