Job Description

Connected Technologies, LLC, an intelligent building infrastructure company with 30 years of history, is seeking a Director of Business Development to own the full sales cycle and build a scalable Southeast sales process. This hybrid role is based near Watkinsville, GA, with regular travel across Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama.

We design, install, and support technology systems that keep buildings working. Our capabilities include fiber optics, data networks, managed Wi-Fi, access control, security cameras, and audio and video systems, along with life safety and wireless components that few competitors can touch, such as Public Safety ERRCS/BDA and in-building systems managed from the cloud.

The Opportunity

We bring deep technical expertise and a strong reputation, yet we have never had a dedicated salesperson. Three specialty service lines set us apart, and we are looking for a leader who can own the growth engine and scale a high-performing B2B sales program in the Southeast.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full sales cycle from prospecting to close across target verticals including multifamily, conventional and student housing, hospitality, senior living, healthcare, commercial construction, and corporate facilities
  • Build and manage relationships with general contractors, developers, property managers, building owners, and architects across GA, FL, SC, TN, and AL
  • Use construction pipeline tools such as Construct Connect or Dodge to identify projects early and secure bid lists
  • Build and maintain a CRM-based pipeline with accurate forecasting and weekly reporting to the COO
  • Develop repeatable sales collateral, including capability decks, case studies, and proposal templates to onboard future sales hires
  • Represent Connected Technologies at industry events, trade associations, and in daily market activities

Requirements

  • 7 to 10 years of B2B sales experience with a verifiable track record of personally closing business and meeting or exceeding annual revenue targets
  • Experience selling into commercial construction, building technology, systems integration, managed IT, low voltage, AV, security, or adjacent services
  • Existing relationships with general contractors, developers, or property managers in the Southeast – this is the most important line on your resume
  • Demonstrated ability to build a pipeline from scratch in a market without an established brand presence
  • Comfort using CRM platforms, construction data tools, and proposal software; specifics can be learned
  • Prior experience as a first sales hire or in a build-from-scratch sales role
  • Familiarity with structured cabling, in-building wireless, ERRCS/BDA, access control, DAS, managed Wi-Fi, or MSP services
  • Experience eventually building and managing a sales team
  • Comfort working directly with a COO or ownership team in an entrepreneurial environment

Compensation

Base salary range: $90,000 to $130,000 depending on experience and existing relationships. Commission is a percentage of gross profit on new revenue you personally generate, with no cap. There is an override on revenue from reps you hire as the team grows. A ramp compensation plan with a draw against commission is available during pipeline build. A path to $4M-$6M in new non-anchor revenue by year two can result in total compensation well above $200,000.

What success looks like

  • 90 days: Pipeline established, GC and developer relationships mapped and engaged, CRM active, first proposals submitted
  • 6 months: First new non-anchor contracts closed, sales playbook drafted, activity KPIs consistently met
  • 12 months: $2M+ in new revenue closed or committed, team hire justified by pipeline volume
  • 24 months: $4M-$6M in new revenue, first sales rep hired, you are managing a team while maintaining personal closes

Location and travel

Based just outside Atlanta with regular travel across the Southeast. Construction site visits are part of the role. A valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check are required. This is a drug-free workplace.
