Job Description

Resource Environmental Solutions LLC is hiring an Environmental Business Development Manager to grow advisory services and construction/design-build water quality projects. Based in Nashville, TN (hybrid), you will help expand RES solutions across the Southeast by building pipelines, aligning internal and external teams, and positioning RES as a trusted strategic advisor in water quality and resilience.

What You’ll Do

  • Hit and drive performance goals by achieving a defined annual sales target that supports RES’s strategic growth plan.
  • Build a pipeline by prospecting, developing, and maintaining a sales pipeline sized at 4x to goal to fuel both core business and emerging strategic solutions.
  • Lead the sales process with multi-disciplinary teams to market RES solutions to a defined list of target clients, coordinating with RES marketing and proposal teams.
  • Act as a strategic advisor by monitoring relevant client issues and bringing innovative solutions into the conversation.
  • Strengthen market presence by attending and speaking at conferences and trade groups, and identifying external leadership opportunities to increase brand awareness and drive lead generation.
  • Keep the offering current by monitoring and sharing feedback on changes in customer behavior and preferences so RES can refine its approach.

What You’ll Bring

  • Education: BA/BS in Biology, Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrology, Engineering, Agricultural Science, or a similar Science discipline.
  • Experience: 3+ years in regulatory or environmental consulting with “seller-doer” experience, including leading the pursuit and delivery of projects.
  • Network in the Southeast: demonstrated existing relationships with public agencies and regulators, private developers, consulting and engineering firms, non-profits, and academia.
  • Commercial execution: ability to sell to multiple stakeholders and create consensus that supports a commercial booking.
  • Regulatory deliverables: experience reviewing and preparing regulatory documents and responding to agency comments.
  • Permits and regulations: advanced understanding of relevant environmental regulations and permits/approvals, such as CWA 404/402/401, NWP/IP, NPDES, and ESA.
  • Technical foundation: understanding of restoration design principles, including engineering design plans, functional calculations, and ecological data.
  • Data work: ability to independently access state and federal databases to extract, interpret, and communicate results.
  • Travel: able to travel up to 50% of the time, business depending.

Tools and Differentiators

  • GIS experience: strong familiarity with GIS capabilities and functions.
  • Experience with estimating, scheduling, and budget development for project delivery.
  • Experience leading a multidisciplinary team through a defined sales process to win projects.
  • Advanced degree or additional project management qualifications (example: Project Management Professional) indicating comfort working across disciplines.
  • Relevant ecological restoration credentials, such as Professional Wetlands Scientist, Wetland Professional in Training, Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner, or similar.
  • Grant writing or work on grant-funded projects (federal, state, or other funding) is highly desirable.
