The VP, Business Development – Analytics & Innovation leads growth for Gen Re's Life & Health reinsurance clients by expanding analytics-enabled value-added services, shaping capabilities, and strengthening partner relationships.
Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to extend value-added services using data, analytics, automation, and underwriting innovation to improve client outcomes such as risk selection, pricing, speed, and consistency; shape the reinsurer's strategy accordingly.
- Execute the value-added services strategy within the Client Solutions team, aligned with client needs and Gen Re objectives.
- Translate complex technical capabilities into clear business value propositions for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Originate, structure, and close new and expanded client engagements around franchise offerings and targeted solutions.
- Collaborate with Sales & Marketing to weave value-added services into broader client strategies and deal negotiations.
- Own assessments including pricing models, risk-selection frameworks, cost-benefit analyses, and business plans for value-added services and innovations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to client partners across underwriting, product, data, and innovation functions.
- Lead client-facing discussions on underwriting modernization, AI adoption, and data strategy.
- Represent Gen Re externally through industry forums, conferences, and client workshops.
- Work closely with underwriting, pricing/products, sales and marketing, data science, and Ops/IT to shape market-ready solutions.
- Influence roadmap prioritization by incorporating market feedback, commercial viability, and client impact.
- Stay current on trends in underwriting, analytics, AI/ML, data sources, and regulatory developments.
- Support pilot programs and proofs-of-concept with target clients.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Life & Health reinsurance, direct insurance, or related financial services, with a strong foundation in underwriting innovation and analytics.
- Proven success in business development and client strategy roles.
- Deep understanding of underwriting processes and how analytics, automation, or decision-support tools enhance risk assessment and business outcomes.
- Experience collaborating with data science, actuarial, or underwriting innovation teams.
- Ability to communicate complex analytical and technical concepts to senior executives and non-technical audiences.
- Strong track record of influencing internal stakeholders without direct authority.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (FSA/ASA, MBA, data science, or related) preferred.
